In a bid to improve competence of shipping agent officers and to meet the requirements of IMO (International Maritime Organisation) relating security, the Indonesia Shipping Agency Association (ISAA), in cooperation with National  SAR (Search and Rescue) Maritime Training Center, has just conducted a training of Company Security Officer (CSO).

As many as 24 officers of shipping agents from several areas including Jakarta, Surabaya, Jambi, etc joint the training at SAR Maritime Training Center Jakarta on Wednesday, November 1.

The training was formally opened by  ISAA General Secretary Aris Hartoyo.

In his remark speech Aris said that ISAA facilitated this training in responding the IMO requirements, saying this biggest global shipping community organisation has called all shipping agent officers  to have CSO certificate in 2018.

“We will continue to do this.  Some agents from other regions have expressed their interest to join in the next badge," Aris said.

Meanwhile, ISAA Chairman Juswandi Kristanto underlined that ISAA commits to facilitate CSO training to all ISAA members.

Following the issuance of ministereal decree PM 11/2016 on shipping agents stating that shipping agents can be acted by a non SIUPAL (shipping permit) company, many agents  have been so enthusiastic to improve their human resources  (HARD).

"ISAA is ready to help them improve HRD competence through trainings," Juswandi told Indonesia Shipping Gazette.
