Despite a recent ministerial decree to alter the status of the under-construction Kuala Tanjung Port to that of a domestic hub, the government has decided to reinstate it as an international hub.
Acting North Sumatra governor Tengku Erry Nuradi said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had stressed that the port should be an international hub to maintain investor interest in the project.
“The President emphasized that it must remain an international hub in order not to decrease investors’ trust [in the project],” he told reporters following a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (16/02).
