Govt Expects CMA CGM to Continuously Upsize Direct Call Vessels to Trigger More Export

Director General of Sea Transportation Agus Purnomo appreciates CMA CGM direct call services, expecting it to trigger higher export volume from the country. Agus also sends high appreciation to this French Shipping Company programs of being continuously upgraded the vessels deployed for such long haul routes of the direct calls. 


Agus is very sure those direct calls have helped to increase the trade from Indonesia to the world especially the continents of USA and Europe in which CMA CGM have been running such direct calls.


“There is evidence to say that these direct calls have helped to trigger the increase of our export volume. Data says the loading volume of export of this service continued to increase,” Agus told Indonesia Shipping Gazette during the visit to APL Houston, a 10,000 teus vessel that deployed by CMA CGM group to serve this route. 


On Monday December 3rd, CMA CGM Indonesia conducted a VIP Vessel Visit to APL Houston to show any onboard facilities of the vessels running the direct call services as well as any process of loading and unloading. 


Some officials from government, state port operator PT Pelindo II/IPC, as well as some leading CMA CGM customers joint the event.


“From the beginning of its launching, CMA CGM has continued to upsize the vessels it deployed for this service. This, on one hand, proves the market potential growth, and the other hand this shows the CMA CGM commitment to support to the trade from this country. And we have to appreciate this,” Agus said further.  


Agus also appreciates the CMA CGM plan to again upsize the vessels. “CMA CGM has planned to deploy bigger vessel of 11,500 teus. We hope this plan will be realized soon,” he said. 


CMA CGM affirmed it, saying the vessel of 11,500 teus vessel will join this service. “Hopefully, in January 2019, the vessel of 11,500 teus will firstly berth at Tanjung Priok,” Farid Belbouab, President Director of CMA CGM Indonesia, said.
