​IMLOW Appreciates Toll Tariff Reduction for Logistics Transportation

Logistics business stakeholders, including logistics players, related business players, and logistics observers appreciated the government policy to reduce toll tariff, expecting it to help a more competitive national logistics cost.


Maritime and logistic expert and observer from Indonesia Maritime, Logistic & Transportaion Watch (IMLOW) Achmad Ridwan Tento said the government plan to cut toll tariff would encourage the logistics business climate in the country. 


With an existing tight business competition, the national transportation and logistics business need for a real stimulus, Ridwan noted.


"This is of course a good news for logistics players, following the statement of President Joko Widodo to reduce toll tariff for logistics transportation," Ridwan told media today, March 28.


Ridwan, who is also former General Secretary of Indonesia Importers Association (GINSI) affirmed that logistics business players certainly appreciated such policy in which it proved the government commitment to reduce logistics cost and to improve Indonesia's logistic performance index (LPI).


On the other hand, he urged the truckers (trucking business players) to follow the government rule and  regulations relating truck load.


Earlier, President Joko Widodo stated that the government would do evaluation to reduce toll tariff for logistics transportation by 15-30%.


Indonesia Trucking Association (Aptrindo) also appreciates this government policy. "If the toll tariff reduces, the logistics transportation  cost can also be reduced," said Aptrindo Chairman Gemilang Tarigan.


But, Gemilang refused to elaborate further the percentage of logistics transportation decrease as the effect of toll tariff  reduction. "But we think that the government  has given  a very good response. The reduction  of toll tariff is a real step to reduce logistics cost," he said.
