IPC Enjoyed 18% Net Profit Growth in H1

State port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero)/IPC booked a net profit of Rp1.21 trillion in first half of 2018 (H12018), an 18% increase year on year, from Rp1.02 trillion in H12017, thanks to the increase volume it handled and the increasing contribution of its subsidiary companies.


The total revenue also experienced an increase, by 8.18%, to Rp 5.35 trillion, from Rp4.93 trillion in H12017, the company report said. 


"On one hand, there is an increase in operating revenue, while on the other hand we can do efficiency in our operating cost, reflected in our capability to decrease BOPO (operating cost to operating income),” Pelindo II/IPC President Director  Elvyn G. Masassya said on the recent press conference (August 16).


Elvyn explained further that the IPC’s EBITDA also increased, by 12.85 %, from Rp1.85 to Rp2.09 trillion. The BOPO, on the other hand was down by 2.34%. “This proves that our performance becomes more efficient,” he said.


IPC is optimistic to reach its yearly revenue target contracted to Rp12.36 trillion in 2018, a 13.3 % increase from the realization of Rp10.91 trillion in 2017.


The company also enjoyed an increase in the containerized cargo volume and ship calls it handled during the period. IPC handled as many as 3.62 million teus during the period, a 10.18% increase from 3.28 million teus in H12017. Ship calls also increased, by 10.68%, from 94.58 million GT (Gross Tonnage), to 104.68 million GT.


However, the non-containerized cargo was slightly down, by 1.82%, from 27.97 million ton to 27.44 million ton.


The passengers, meanwhile, experienced an increase, by 21.85%, from 260,420 to 317,310 passengers.


In running the business IPC implemented the strategy of so called the ‘Pelindo Incorporated’. Through this strategy, IPC expands its operational coverage, escalates financial capacity and funding access, strengthens production and marketing capacity, standardizes facilities, IT system, and level of services, as well as improves efficiency and productivity.
"For example, we build cooperation with Pelindo I to operate the Batu Ampar Port. This is one manifesto of our incorporated strategy,” said Elvyn
