Jokowi: This Signals the Indonesia's Positive Trade

President Joko Widodo appreciates the routine weekly direct call between Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta (JICT) and USA that is served by bigger and bigger vessels  of French shipping line CMA CGM, thanks to the increasing export from Indonesia to USA. 


Jokowi underlined that this routine direct call proved the improvement of port facilities while the increasing export volume signaled a positive exonomy growth of the country. "Based on the data presented by IPC and the increasing load factor of these direct vessels, our exonomy is on progress," Jokowi said on his remark speech on his port visit to see the port infrastructure and facilities improvement and to witness the direct export service to USA on May 15.


Jokowi remarked the departure of CMA CGM TAGE, a 9,365 TEU ship deployed on the JAX Route between Southeast Asia and the West Coast of the United States. On this call, CMA CGM TAGE loaded as many as 2382 TEUS (1456 boxes) of export to USA and earlier unloded as many as 1905 TEUS (1073 boxes) of import.


CMA CGM, a leading worldwide shipping Group, welcomed the Indonesian President, His Excellency Joko Widodo, on the occasion of his visit to the port of Jakarta (JICT). 


President Widodo was accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Trade, Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi, and the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Mrs. Rini Soemarno. 


President Jokowi met with the local CMA CGM staff and the crew of the CMA CGM TAGE, a 9,365 TEU ship deployed on the JAX Route between Southeast Asia and the West Coast of the United States. During his visit, President Widodo highlighted the importance of the transpacific trade and the major role played by the CMA CGM Group, which deploys in Jakarta the largest ships calling Indonesian ports.


CMA CGM reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the Indonesian economy.


As a leader in the transpacific trade between Indonesia and the West Coast of the United States, CMA CGM also commits to be a partner of Indonesia's economic development.

A top executive of CMA CGM Indonesia told Indonesia Shipping Gazette that there was a significant export volume growth from Indonesia to USA since CMA CGM run the service a year ago. "There is more than 10 percent growth," he said.


Another executive underlined Indonesia will become the main focus of CMA CGM in Asia. "We are eyeing other direct routes in the future, including to Africa," he said.


Moreover, the Group is in line with Indonesia Sea Toll Program, which is aimed at expanding intra Indonesia islands service network connecting to Jakarta.
