New Priok Construction Caused Loss of Rp 1.4trn: State Auditor

An investigative audit done by Indonesia State Auditor (BPK) concluded a failure of the development of New Priok Container Terminal (NPCT) or usually called New Priok.


The audit report submitted by BPK Head Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara to House of Representative (DPR) Head Bambang Soesatyo, on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, said the project caused a loss of more than Rp 1.4 trillion (more than $100 million) to the state income.


Moermahadi explained that this project was never included in the corporate long standing plan (RJPP), nor in the corporate budgeting plan (RKAP).


"In the technical aspects, the construction of NPCT did not use sand material but mood, causing high risk to secendary drop and potentially affect the  construction solidity, including to the one  of NPCT1 that has been in operation," said," Moermahadi.


BPK that is helped by some construction  experts and geologists concluded that even the NPCT1 operational period is only 20 years due to such poor construction, far from 100 years claimed by PT Pelindo II/IPC.  


DPR Head Bambang Soesatyo said, in view those potential state loss and its poor construction, it can be concluded that New Priok project is fail.  


Head of Special Committee but (Pansus DPR) on Pelindo II cases Rieke Diah Pitaloka are completed and have been ready to be  presented to DPR assembly meeting. 


In addition to this new finding, Rieke also again highlighted the other findings that have been reported earlier. "The BPK earlier reported  that the extension of JICT and TPK Koja have caused loss of Rp 4.08 and 1.86 trillio, respectively," said Rieke.
