Swire Shipping decided to open new office in Pago-Pago after their subsidiary, Polynesia Lines achieved a milestone of 500 voyages to Pago-Pago. The office will be headed by Rob Hardman, a veteran in shipping industry.

Achieving 500 voyages to Pago-Pago is a very important milestone for Polynesia Lines and Swire Shipping. The new office is located at Fagotogo Square Suite #103. This office will represent all global services of Swire Shipping to or from American Samoa.

In harmony with Swire Shipping vision, the establishment of Pago-Pago branch office is for the purpose of developing their business by creating a long-term and mutually successful relationship with industry partners and customers. The office that will be headed by Rob Hardman will have 8 new local staff. Rob Hardman said that Swire Shipping is delighted to have hire very talented people. He is confident that his team can grow Swire Shipping bigger and that they can offer positive contribution to the communities where they work and live in.

“Our aim is simple: We want to make shipping easy for our customers and for those they serve,” said Mr Hardman.

According to Jeremy Sutton, GM of Swire Shipping, the establishment of this new office shows confident investment of Swire Shipping to American Samoa communities. Shipping has been one of earliest parts of Swire Group, which has been established for more than 140 years, and shipping still become one of its main focus. Although Swire Group shipping business is global, they have always been proud of the Pacific region shipping.

Aumua Amata, congresswoman who attended the occasion said, “Our economy depends on success stories, opportunities and growth, so announcements like these are always great news for the community. These events happen because of hard work and good planning, so congratulations to everyone involved in these business milestone.”

Swire Shipping acquires Polynesia Lines in 2013. They share many of same values, values that made them important part of American Samoa communities. Some of those values are the long-term view and commitment to connect American Samoa and wider Pacific with major markets in USA, Asia, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Sutton is certain that Polynesia Line long-standing history of 50 years will be strengthened by Swire Shipping for another 50 years in the future. He is also convinced that Swire Shipping will continue to provide important link for import and export to USA. Mr Sutton thanks the customer who put their trust in Swire Shipping so the 500 voyages became possible. It reminds him of Polynesia Lines slogan from 1980s to 1990s, “Trust is a Voyage of Many Miles.”
