MV MSC Magnum VII Maiden Voyage to Panjang, the Biggest Vessel Ever Call

Port of Panjang has just created a record in the biggest container vessel ever call after the MV MSC Magnum VII called at this port for the first time (maiden voyage/call) on Friday, February 17, 2024.   

MSC MAGNUM VII (IMO: 9252541) is a 14,500 New Panamax containership and is sailing under the flag of Liberia. Her length overall (LOA) is 299.99 meters, width of 40 meters, and weight of 79,590 DWT.

According to marinetraffic.com. the vessel is scheduled to depart from Panjang on this afternoon, Sunday, 18 February 2024, (2024-02-18 07:19  – UTC+7) and will arrive at Singapore on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024 (2024-02-20 08:01 UTC+8).

The welcoming ceremony took place at Berth 100 of Container Terminal Panjang. The port operator represented by Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang Commercial Budi Waluyo and Area Manager of IPC TPK Budi Daryono joint to welcome the call.

Commending this call, General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang Imam Rahmayadi appreciates any stakeholders, especially the operator Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A and. On the other hand, Imam also appreciates the growing cargo potencies at the province thus attracting more calls to come and the port service and infrastructure as well, thus accessible for handling bigger vessels.

Imam underlined that this proves an achievement of any efforts of any parties in improving the port performance. “Our intensive collaboration and partnership among all parties including port authority (KSOP) and port operator (Pelindo and container terminal IPC TPK) has totally supported this (ability to handle this big vessel call),” he said.

He underlined that Pelindo had continued to do improvement through infrastructure development, supra-structure transformation, and service level improvement. “Now, here we are. We are able to handle this big vessel,” he said.
