Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IKT/IPCC) enjoyed a positive throughput growth of trucks/bus and heavy equipment in the first two months this year, especially in import and domestic market, thanks to the fast economy recovery. IKT internal analysis explained that such achievement was triggered by the increasing national economy activity and the IKT improvement works.
In a recent statement, IKT’s import of truck and bus reached 831 units, increasing 282,95% from 217 units in the same period last year (January-February 2021). Of the total, Mercedes products contributed the highest, reaching 420 units, a 1,400% increase from only 28 units in the same period last year. Volvo contributed the second, from 95 to 128 units, and subsequently followed by other global brands of Komatsu, Renault, Tata, Scania, and others.
The export of truck and bus, meanwhile, fell sharply, to only 24 units, from 798 units last year.
IKT also enjoyed fantastic growth in domestic (Terminal Satelit) throughput of truck and bus. During the period, it handled as many as 10,597 units of truck and bus in total of all its terminals, increasing 369.93% from 2,255 units in the same period last year.
Priok Terminal still contributed the highest, reaching 4,799 units, then followed by Dwikora Terminal (Pontianak) with throughput of 4,119 units. The remaining was contributed by Terminal Panjang (Lampung) and Belawan (Medan), the two terminals that had been operated by IKT since the beginning of the year.
Throughput of heavy equipment also increased significantly during the two months of 2022, both in international terminal of Tanjung Priok and domestic terminals of Priok, Pontianak, Panjang, and Belawan.
The throughput of import heavy equipment at IKT International Terminal (Tanjung Priok) reached 1,385 units, increasing 216.21% from 438 units in the same period last year. Among the brands, Caterpillar contributed the highest of 399 units, followed by Komatsu (355 units), and Kobelco (292 units). Contribution of other brands of Hitachi, Volvo, and Sumitomo also increased. Even, the brands of China and South Korea like Doosan, Hyundai, and Liugong also increased.
But the export of heavy equipment during the period slightly decreased, to 386 units, from 392 units in the same period last year.
IKT’s domestic terminals also enjoyed positive growth in heavy equipment throughput. In total, the terminals throughput reached 1,845 units, increasing 155.54% from 722 units in January-February 2021. Priok contributed the highest of 1,244 units, then followed by Belawan of 371 units. The remaining were contributed by other IKT’s domestic terminals (Terminal Satelit).
In its statement, IKT said that any improvement works, including the yard improvement done during the pandemic covid-19 outbreak has encouraged this terminal productivity, in addition to the economy recovery.
The improvement works and procurement of some new facilities, IKT said, have supported its terminals to be able to handle any kinds of heavy equipment.
But, IKT also reported that it suffered drop in throughput of CBU it handled during the period.
