Indonesia Announces List of the 18 Coal Carriers Allowed to Sail

Indonesia’s Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation will soon issue sailing approval (SPB) to the 18 loaded coal carriers allowed to sail, after the Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) issued recommendation.

The directorate also announced the list and names of the 18 coal carriers that are permitted to get sailing approval.

“We have informed all harbour masters to issue SPB (sailing approval) to the vessels on the list as recommended by the Ministry of ESDM,” Mugen S. Sartoto, Director for Sea Traffic at the Directorate General of Sea Transportation said in press statement as quoted by bisnis.com.

Mugen explained that the Ministry of ESDM have allowed owners of these vessels to sail as their miners have fulfilled their domestic market obligation (DMO).

“To follow up this recommendation (from Ministry of ESDM), Directorate General of Sea Transportation will issue SPB to the 18 coal carriers,” Mugen said.
