PT Jasa Armada Indonesia Tbk (IPCM) sets capital expenditure (capex) of Rp 250 billion this year (2022) for procurement of six (6) new fleets in a bid to support its business expansion plan.
The six new fleets, including three pilot boats and three tug boats, would be gradually procured in 2021-2023, JAI Commercial and Business Development Director Shanti Puruhita said.
“Four of them have been ordered and the work contracts have been signed between JAI and shipbuilders. The two others are still in bidding process,” Shanti said.
Late last year, JAI signed two agreements with two shipbuilders to build the four fleets. The first agreement is the construction of one unit of 2×2,200 horse power (HP) tugboat Azimut Stern Driven (ASD) Type with PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyards. The second is agreement for the construction of three 2×300 HP Type Outboard Engine pilot boats with PT Yasa Wahana Tirta Samudera Shipyard (Samudera Shipyard) and PT Constrine Jaya Group, a partnership/KSO company.
Shanti expects some of the new fleets will be delivered by the end of this year or early next year in a bid to support the corporate expansion plan. “This year, JAI will continue to do business expansion,” Shanti said.
To support this business expansion plan, JAI sets to allocate as much as Rp 250 billion (Capital expenditure/Capex). This includes for investment in technology application. “The capex will be sourced from internal cash,” Shanti said.
Shanti is so optimistic with the market growth, both captive and non-captive market. JAI’s captive market is expected to go wider following the merger of state port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero)/Pelindo. Pelindo is the parent company of JAI through Pelindo Jasa Maritim Subholding (PJM).
In addition to captive, JAI also continues to expand business to non-captive market.
