Kijing Has Handled almost Half Million Tons of Export just in Three Months Operation

Just several months after its operation, Kijing Terminal has shown its key role in serving and encouraging Indonesia’s export, the crude palm oil (CPO) and CPO-related products in particular.

As reported earlier, this terminal was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on August 9, 2022. Since then, the terminal has handled almost a half million tons of export cargoes.

According to data released by Pelindo Regional II Pontianak, since August to date, Kijing Terminal has served 433,626.50 tons of cargo, which consists of 308.089.24 tons of loading and 125,537.26 tons unloading.

The cargo loaded includes Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPL) (164,788.15 tons); Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) (57,365.73 tons); Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Stearin (39,002.20 tons); Crude Palm Oil (12,981.92 tons); Palm Kernel Oil (8,548.59 tons); Palm Kernel Expeller (13,300 tons), and Palm Fatty Acid Distilled of 12,103,65 tons.

The cargo unloaded, meanwhile, consists of 119,546 46 tons of Crude Palm Oil, 2,967 tons of General Cargo and 3,083 tons of Methanol.

“Most of export products exported are CPO derivative commodities, which are exported to some destination countries, including, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea,” said the General Manager of Pelindo Regional II Pontianak Hambar Wiyadi.

Hambar breaks down the export in which export to China amounts to 69,297 tons, India (93,669 tons), Malaysia (24,889 tons), Vietnam (9,900 tons), South Korea (14,008 tons) and Pakistan (14,693 tons).

He said that currently (November 15), the Kijing Terminal was serving the Hong Kong-flagged MT Myri Joy with an LOA of 182.94 m and 28,410 GT docked at Liquid Bulk Jetty 02 Kijing Terminal. According to the plan, this vessel would load as much as 31,000 tons, consisting of 13,000 tons of Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil, Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil 7,000 tons and Crude Palm Oil 11,000 tons with export destinations to Deendayal – India and Port Qasim – Pakistan.

Another vessel, MV SGS Green docking at Pier 3 would load 3,300 tons of Palm Kernel Expeller to Long An Port – Vietnam.

Accelerating Green Port Programs

In addition, he added, in order to improve services to port service users at Kijing Terminal – Pontianak, a green port assessment is currently being carried out, a program initiated by Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment. The assessment meanwhile was executed by by IDSurvey from the Indonesian Classification Bureau and Sucofindo which was carried out for 3 days ( 15 to 17 November 2022).

Hambar said, the green port program at Kijing Terminal is part of the commitment of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Pontianak in reducing carbon emissions around the port, one of which is contained in the climate change control criteria, which is the implementation of various international standards, environmental management and control regulations in Indonesia. Indonesia and the best practices that have been carried out at other Green Ports globally.

The implementation of the green port program has been initiated through an assessment by the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment in collaboration with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) which is assessed in an assessment from various aspects ranging from management aspects (waste related to ships and operations; sustainable resources; landscape and quality of life). , ports, environment (connectivity, dredging, water quality, air, soil and noise, climate adaptation) and energy (energy and climate change mitigation).
