PT Pelindo Multi Terminal / SPMT, a Pelindo sub-holding focusing on operating multipurpose terminals, continues to expand its operation coverage. Million tons of non-containerized cargoes have been handled in the first half this year as it continues to spread out service coverage throughout the country. Much more will predictably be handled in the second year as trend shows its significant growth.
SPMT was established last year (October 1, 2021) in line with the Pelindo merger. Since the time, SPMT has been continuing to accelerate business expansion. Until now, it has operated as many as 22 ports nationwide.
It has also completed the transfer of shareholding of two subsidiaries PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP) and PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IKT), each focusing business on multipurpose terminals and car terminals.
This corporate expansion is also supported by the positive performance of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal / SPMT. Until the first semester of 2022, SPMT has served 6.8 million tons of general cargo, 9.8 million tons of liquid bulk, 22.1 million tons of dry bulk, 168 thousand TEUs of containers, and 520 thousand units of vehicles.
Commending this performance, SPMT President Director Drajat Sulistyo said: “This positive performance will continue as SPMT will continue to expand operational coverage in the other ports nationwide.”
“In addition, in line with our parent company vision to increase value creation, SPMT expects to penetrate to potential private ports,” Drajat said further, adding that some feasibility studies were on going to these (non-Pelindo ports).
He said, to ensure such achievement targets, SPMT would carry out a transformation program through standardizing non-container terminal operations and aspects of commercial so that port logistics costs in Indonesia, especially non-container activities would be more efficient.
“No doubt, the non-container segment in Indonesia has great potency, proved by high volume of basic needs and industrial needs. Hence, standardization of operational and service at non-container terminals is very essential to meet the expectations of service users and contribute to the effectiveness of national logistics costs,” explained Drajat.
Drajat also added that SPMT is fully committed to being able to fulfil the wishes and expectations of service users. This is ensured by guarantees of fixed time, fixed cost, and safety assurance.
“Those three things will greatly encourage a decrease in the docking time and port stay and also the productivity of loading and unloading, thus finally SPMT is able to realize its vision as Indonesia’s Connectivity Champion,” said Drajat.
