In view of challenges that hit the logistics business within the country, Indonesia Container Depots’ Association ASDEKI is calling for a healthy competition among members (container depots’ operators).
In its current executive boards national meeting (Rapimnas), ASDEKI highlighted some current challenges and issues the depot business was facing, including standardized service, inefficient and high logistics cost, unhealthy competition among depot operator, and poor logistics ecosystem.
ASDEKI conducted Rapinas on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, with full participants of executive boards of ASDEKI Headquarter, executives from regional chapters (DPW), and Supervisory Boards.
“This Rapimnas is part of Asdeki’s work program. In this Rapimnas, we discussed some strategic issues of businesses opportunities and challenges in 2024. And then, we recommended some strategies and programs on how to optimize the potencies and to anticipate the challenges,” said ASDEKI Chairman Mustofa Kamal Hamka.
Some key issues that had been concern for the Rapimnas include how to create standardized services at the depots, how to support an efficient logistics in export import, how to create a healthy competition among depot operators, and how to support logistics ecosystem.
“Relating these issues, some recommendations that needed immediate solutions include, first, create healthy competition among players. We urge all members not to charge irrational (too low) tariff. Second, provide standard service at all depots, and third build partnership as apart of logistics ecosystem,” said Kamal.
Kamal is optimistic that ASDEKI will be able to resolve any problems within this sector if all members are solid. “We are very confident that in the future we can resolve any problem we face after we make this association solid,” he said.
