INSA, ISAA Initiate to Set up Roofing and Flooring Tariff Policies in Port Agency Fee

In a bid to prevent unhealthy tariff competition among shipping agents at Tanjung Priok port, Indonesia National Shipowners Association’ Chapter Jakarta (INSA Jaya) and Indonesia Shipping Agencies’ Association Chapter Jakarta (ISAA DKI Jakarta) initiate to set up port agency fee standardization at this Indonesia’s leading port.

This initiative remained one of the key conclusions of the meeting between the two associations at the INSA Jaya Office today, Friday, February 16, 2024.

To achieve this fee standardization, the associations proposed to scheme the roofing and flooring tariff policies, meaning that there would be the maximum and minimum agency fee that could be charged.

As a part of ISAA DKI Jakarta agenda during its visit to INSA Jaya, the meeting also highlighted other issues relating regulations and port services, in addition to introducing the new executive boards of each.

ISAA DKI Jakarta delegates were led by Chairman Adnan Sahudi and welcomed by INSA Jaya Chairman Capt. Alimuddin and INSA Jaya Secretary M. Erwin Y. 

“This is the key issue (port agency fee standardization) of this meeting. We (INSA Jaya and ISAA DKI) will soon take a further step. Let us say a joint task force that will seriously formulate the scheme. We agree to take roofing and flooring tariff policies, in which there will be maximum and minimum rate of port agency fee   at Tanjung Priok,” said Erwin.

Erwin underlined this scheme (roofing and flooring tariff policies in port agency fee) is so urgent and necessary maintain the stability of the ship agency services business and to keep a healthy competition in agency business, both among members of ISAA and INSA.

The two parties also agree to tie up cooperation and collaboration in finding solutions to any problems they faced during doing business. “ISAA is our younger brother. Building cooperation and synergy and intensifying communication is normal and needed,” Erwin said.
