Logistics company PT. BSA Logistics Indonesia (BLI) will provide more optimal warehousing services and more efficient costs in storage and distribution services for fruit products (perishable goods) belonging to fruit producer PT Sunpride, following the appointment of BLI as a logistics operator (In -plant Logistics) owned by PT Sewu Segar Nusantara (PT SSN) in Tangerang.
Starting from June 2024, BLI would officially become the logistics operator (In-plant Logistics) of Sunpride in Tangerang, after winning the logistics contract tender process.
“In line with our vision of becoming a total logistics provider, our services will be wider. We handle 3PL contract logistics for various types of services, including cold storage operations,” Mr. Fadhly Rizal, Head of Contract Logistics at BLI, told Indonesia Shipping Gazette.
Mr. Fadhly Rizal explained that as a 3PL logistics services provider, BLI guarantees to meet customers’ requirements to have more efficient logistics services thus they can focus on their core business, such as production and distribution activities.
“With our extensive experience, human resources, facilities and systems we have implemented in handling logistics, Sunpride entrusted us to operate its warehouse in Tangerang as of June 2024,” explained Mr. Fadhly Rizal.
The operation of the 10,000 SQM cold storage includes several services. Apart from storage activities, BSA will also handle loading and unloading (receiving and delivery) activities.
“The first step we took was to complete the transfer of labour and this has been carried out in accordance with existing regulations. Then, of course, we will carry out training so that the workforce can adapt to our work standards and ethos,” explained Mr. Tedi Rustandi, BLI Operation Manager.
“This is a refrigerated warehouse which of course requires a special handling system. Moreover, the commodities that will be stored here are perishable goods (fruit), such as bananas, pineapples and kiwi. Therefore, special facilities are needed and supported by qualified human resources,” added Mr Tedi Rustandi.
The Sunpride Warehouse in Tangerang is one of the distribution centres for Sunpride products in Java Island. After being produced in Lampung, fruit products such as bananas, pineapples, melons and kiwi are sent to the Tangerang Warehouse, and then distributed to several big cities in Java, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya.
In addition to handling the In-plant Logistics project with PT Sewu Segar Nusantara, explained Mr. Airlangga Prima Satria, Business Development Manager for Contract Logistics at the company, BLI also has experience in handling In-Plant Logistics for both General Warehouses and PLB Warehouses (Bonded Logistics Centre).
“Some projects that are already underway include PLB CPO in Tarjun, Lubuk Gaung and Tarahan. BLI is also developing its business by working on the Jambi CPO PLB project, PLB for a BUMN in Dumai, as well as In-plant Logistics for an oil producer in East Java,” explained Mr. Airlangga Prima Satria.
“This is in line with BLI’s mission in the future, to focus on In-plant Logistics. Apart from this, BLI also has warehouses in Cakung and Marunda with a total area of 50,000 SQM, both for PLB and General Warehouses,” he added.
