Ismed Safriady has been elected to chair the Riau Islands chapter of the Indonesian Container Depot Association (ASDEKI) for the 2025–2030 term, following a unanimous vote at the association’s second regional conference on Thursday.
The election, held in Batam City’s Harbour Bay View Complex, brought together representatives from eight container depot companies operating in the Riau Islands province.
“This conference is not just a leadership transition. It is a platform to unify members and strengthen solidarity as we face evolving challenges in the container depot industry,” Ismed said in his address after being elected.
Ismed, a logistics professional, previously led the regional ASDEKI chapter from 2014 to 2019.
The eight member companies present at the conference included PT Putri Baralang Mandiri (Global Pratama Group), PT Majesty Global Sejahtera, PT Mega Depo Abadi, PT Multi Depo Indonesia, PT Terminal Depo Logistik, PT Buana Logistik Mandiri, PT Royal Pasifik Batamindo, and PT Persero Batam.
Depo Plays Key Role at FTZ
The conference was attended by senior national ASDEKI officials, including Chairman Mustofa Kamal Hamka and Secretary-General Surya Dharma Syahputra.

Hamka underscored the critical role of Batam’s container depots in national trade, citing the island’s proximity to Singapore and its strategic position within the Free Trade and Free Port Zone (KPBPB), commonly referred to as a Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
“Container depots are vital to the movement of goods, whether for export, import, or domestic distribution,” Hamka said. “To remain competitive, our member depots must maintain high service standards and adapt to market demands. Regional leadership plays a key role in ensuring that.”
ASDEKI, a national body representing container depot operators across Indonesia, aims to professionalize and support the industry through standards, advocacy, and coordination with government and private stakeholders.
