The achievement reflects Pelindo’s strengthened commitment to enhancing port services and boosting logistics connectivity, particularly in the Eastern Indonesia Region (KTI).

Executive Director of Pelindo Regional IV, Abdul Azis, noted that from January to March 2025, the region recorded growth in several key operational indicators: container throughput, ship calls, and passenger traffic.

“During this period, we have continued to push the implementation of digital services through the Integrated Billing System, improve vessel management systems, and enhance port security,” said Abdul Azis. “These improvements are part of our broader commitment to positioning ports as vital facilitators of trade and regional economic growth.”

Container Throughput Up 2.04%, Passenger by 22.21%

Yusida M. Palesang, Division Head of Operational Services for Pelindo Regional IV, shared that container volume in the first quarter reached 619,874 TEUs—a 2.04% increase over Q1 2024. This growth was largely driven by robust export-import activities involving commodities such as palm oil, cocoa, seafood, and the continued rise in domestic logistics demand.

In terms of ship traffic, Regional IV recorded a total of 26,775 ship calls—marking a significant 22.26% year-on-year growth. “This performance indicates growing confidence from industry stakeholders in Pelindo’s enhanced efficiency and quality of service,” Yusida added.

Passenger movement also showed impressive growth, with 1,912,463 passengers recorded in Q1 2025—up 22.21% from 1,564,961 passengers during the same period last year. This consistent growth reflects improved connectivity and service standards across the region’s ports.

Driving Efficiency and Transformation

Abdul Azis emphasized that these results are a direct outcome of the dedication and hard work of Pelindo employees across all managed ports. “We remain focused on optimizing operations, accelerating digital transformation, and strengthening logistics connectivity across Eastern Indonesia,” he said.

The positive performance is also supported by service improvements and infrastructure investments, particularly in key ports like Makassar, Bitung, and Ambon. These initiatives have contributed to smoother cargo flow and increased customer trust.
