Terminal Teluk Lamong Boosts Readiness for Christmas and New Year Traffic Surge

PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) said on Sunday it is fully prepared to handle a potential surge in container traffic during the Christmas and New Year 2025-2026 period, as all three of its managed terminals reported growth in throughput and implemented strategic operational enhancements.

TTL, which oversees TPK Lamong, TPK Berlian, and TPK Nilam terminals, said the year-on-year traffic increase has been supported by the introduction of new international shipping services.

TPK Lamong, TTL’s flagship terminal, saw throughput nearly double its monthly average between September and November 2025, as four new international services began calling weekly.

To ensure smooth operations during the holiday peak, TPK Lamong has implemented measures including keeping berth occupancy rates (BOR) and yard occupancy rates (YOR) below 60%, adding two new Customs-licensed blocks with a combined capacity of around 1,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), expanding its haulage fleet, and extending equipment maintenance to night shifts to maintain operational reliability.

At TPK Berlian, TTL focused on optimizing loading and unloading operations by accelerating maintenance on a key HMC unit, securing critical equipment parts, and improving transfer equipment efficiency. The terminal also opened a new facility in collaboration with Pelindo Regional 3 to maximize existing land use and increase operational capacity.

Meanwhile, TPK Nilam strengthened operational flexibility through measures such as converting its transshipment area into a backup container stacking space, repurposing unloading terminals for loading operations, and coordinating with TPK Berlian to boost joint terminal capacity. Maintenance schedules were also adjusted to ensure equipment readiness at all times.

David Pandapotan Sirait, President Director of TTL, said the preparations were aimed at maintaining smooth national logistics during the peak season.

“With these measures in place, TTL can handle the increased container volumes safely and efficiently,” said David.
