Terminal Teluk Lamong Charts Post-Merger Breakthrough with 2025 Vision in Focus

  • Port operator outlines growth strategy following expansion, targets faster service and energy efficiency

Indonesian port operator PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) is sharpening its operational strategy and internal alignment for the second half of 2025, following a major expansion move that saw Berlian Container Terminal officially merge into TTL on July 1.

At an internal forum dubbed “TTL Power Up 2025,” held at the Vasa Hotel in Surabaya, TTL’s leadership gathered to assess mid-year performance and recalibrate their approach for the months ahead. The event carried the theme “Recalibrate, Realign, Recharge: Strengthening Terminal Roles for a Breakthrough” and focused on solidifying TTL’s position as a next-generation terminal operator.

TTL now oversees three terminals, Teluk Lamong, Nilam, and the newly integrated Berlian, boosting its handling capacity and geographical reach across East Java’s vital maritime corridors.

“With the integration of Berlian Terminal, we’re entering a new chapter,” said David Pandapotan Sirait, TTL President Director. “This is the right moment to unify our vision, enhance service levels, and make a concerted push toward our 2025 targets.”

The company’s strategic blueprint for the remainder of the year includes reducing Ship-to-Ship (STS) turnaround times, optimizing stacking yard operations, and reinforcing partnerships with port stakeholders. TTL also plans to expand its cargo handling capabilities and streamline vessel scheduling to improve service delivery.

Central to TTL’s 2025 roadmap is value creation through innovation and operational efficiency. Engineering-driven initiatives, such as optimizing haulage routes, managing yard traffic, and minimizing container shifting, are expected to contribute to energy savings and sustainability goals.

TTL management underscored the need for stronger commercial and operational analytics, especially at the newly acquired Berlian Terminal, to support consistent performance across all facilities.

“Value creation is not a one-time effort; it has to be embedded into every function,” David said. “We are confident that with collective effort, TTL can rise to the challenges and seize opportunities in an increasingly competitive landscape.”

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), digitalization, and positive brand positioning also featured prominently on TTL’s agenda. Amid growing exposure on social media, employees were reminded of their role in shaping TTL’s public image and reputation.

“The port sector is evolving rapidly. If we keep walking the same path, we’ll only get the same results,” David added. “We need bold steps, breakthroughs, that can redefine TTL’s role and drive us toward becoming a world-class terminal.”
