Terminal Teluk Lamong Posts 9.1% Rise in International Throughput during H1

PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL), a subsidiary of state-owned port operator Pelindo (Pelindo Terminal Petikemas/SPTP), reported a 9.1% rise in international container throughput during the first half of 2025, as new shipping services and growing domestic trade boosted volumes.

The increase reflects growing confidence from logistics firms in TTL’s operational capabilities, Corporate Secretary Syaiful Anam said in a statement on Friday. “We remain committed to delivering efficient, safe and competitive terminal services,” he said.

Teluk Lamong, which along with Nilam and Berlian terminals forms TTL’s core network, handled 437,708 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) between January and June, up 4.9% from 417,329 TEUs in the same period last year. Ship calls also edged up 3.6% to 748 from 722.

The volume growth was underpinned by rising domestic trade with Tarakan in North Kalimantan, where flows rose 15% year-on-year to 23,971 TEUs, driven largely by increased movement of industrial goods, including materials for a large-scale paper mill project under development.

International volumes climbed to 155,006 TEUs from 142,126 TEUs a year earlier, lifted by the addition of the Feeder Asia Express (FAX) route launched in June. The new service connects Jakarta, Surabaya, Port Klang West (Malaysia), Jebel Ali (UAE), and Karachi (Pakistan), positioning Teluk Lamong as a strategic hub along key transshipment routes.

TTL is also strengthening its operational safety protocols amid the terminal’s growth. In June, the company held a safety forum involving employees and business partners to reinforce occupational health and safety practices.

“As one of East Java’s trade gateways, our focus remains on sustainable growth balanced with strong safety standards,” Syaiful said.
