Terminal Teluk Lamong Sets New Record for Fastest Ship-to-Ship Service in Just 34 Minutes

Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) has once again demonstrated operational excellence by setting a new record for the fastest dry bulk ship-to-ship transfer. In early April 2025, TTL successfully completed the process in just 34 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 47 minutes set in December 2024 by the MV Nikolas D and MV Darya Ruchi.

This record-breaking operation was timed from the last line release of the MV Okinawa to the first line docking of the MV Sally. The MV Okinawa, with a length overall (LOA) of 225 meters, carried 47,300 metric tons of U.S. corn. It was promptly followed by the MV Sally, with a 210-meter LOA, carrying 26,955 metric tons of Brazilian soybean meal.

The seamless execution was the result of strong coordination among teams, reflecting TTL’s continued commitment to operational excellence and efficiency.

TTL President Director David Pandapotan Sirait credited this achievement to the well-established synergy between the TTL operations team, Pelindo Regional 3’s ship services, PT Pelindo Marine Service, and the shipping agents from both vessels.

“This achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork and precise coordination,” said Sirait. “The 34-minute record is not just a number—it reflects TTL’s commitment to innovation and exceptional service delivery. We are committed to continuous improvement to ensure TTL remains a reliable and competitive port at both the national and global level.”

Ship-to-ship transfers are a key operational indicator that Pelindo has identified as a strategic focus for 2025. The success of this initiative has been tangible: processes that previously targeted a two-hour turnaround are now being completed in under an hour.
