At the heart of Perawang’s busy docks, safety was the centerpiece of this year’s National Occupational Safety and Health (OHS/K3) Month. Perawang Container Terminal (TPK) marked the occasion with two days of activities aimed at embedding a culture of safety across its workforce.
From February 10 to 11, all TPK Perawang employees took part in programs designed to strengthen awareness, readiness, and collaboration in the high-risk port environment. The events began with an occupational safety and health socialization session led by Jonli, a Specialist Occupational Safety and Health Supervisor from the Riau Provincial Manpower Office.
“Implementing K3 should not be merely administrative, it must become part of the work culture,” Jonli told employees.
“A shared commitment is essential for every operational activity to run safely, under control, and productively, especially in the high-risk port environment.”
The terminal also extended its focus on social responsibility with a blood donation drive in partnership with Tualang Regional Hospital (RSUD Tualang), Siak Regency. Of the 38 participants, 24 bags of blood were collected to support those in need, reflecting TPK Perawang’s commitment not only to its employees but also to the wider community.
Emergency preparedness was another key focus. In-house paramedics led Basic Life Support (BLS) training, combining presentations with hands-on practice to ensure employees could respond effectively in emergencies. The program culminated in a fire drill, where staff practiced using portable fire extinguishers, reinforcing readiness for real-world incidents.
“OHS is the foundation of reliable and sustainable terminal operations,” said Dida Drojat, Head of TPK Perawang.
“It is not just about regulatory compliance; it is a shared responsibility that must be reflected in daily work behavior. With this commitment, we aim to create an accident-free, productive, and sustainable workplace,” he said further.
Through this comprehensive series of activities, TPK Perawang underscored that National OHS Month is more than a ceremonial event, it is an opportunity to strengthen collective commitment, foster a consistent safety culture, and ensure operational reliability for employees and customers alike.
