State-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has fully implemented an online ticketing system for the Ulee Lheue–Balohan route, requiring all passengers to purchase tickets through its Ferizy platform starting April 1, the company said.
The move is part of a broader effort to improve orderliness, safety and efficiency in ferry services, while advancing digitalization across Indonesia’s transport sector.
ASDP President Director Heru Widodo said the policy goes beyond a system upgrade and represents a strategic step to enhance overall service quality.
“The implementation of fully online ticketing through the Ferizy platform allows passengers to better plan their journeys, while enabling more accurate capacity management and manifest recording,” he said.
Authorities at Ulee Lheue Port welcomed the measure, saying it would help reduce congestion and provide greater certainty over departure schedules.
Husaini, head of the port’s regional technical unit (UPTD) Region I, said the system is expected to cut queues at terminals and encourage passengers to secure tickets before arriving at the port.
During the transition, ASDP said it is combining digital adoption with on-the-ground assistance, deploying staff to help passengers unfamiliar with the system and conducting outreach through multiple communication channels.
Andri Setiawan, general manager of ASDP Banda Aceh, said support services would remain available for users facing technical or informational challenges.
“We encourage passengers to purchase tickets in advance and ensure their identity details are entered accurately, as this is essential for manifest validation and insurance coverage,” he said.
The Ulee Lheue–Balohan route, which connects Banda Aceh and Sabang, is currently served by KMP BRR and KMP Aceh Hebat 2. Between January and March 2026, the two vessels carried 94,445 passengers and 44,318 vehicles, underscoring strong demand on the route.
ASDP said the shift to fully digital ticketing is expected to streamline operations and improve safety standards, as the company continues to modernize services and respond to growing mobility needs.
