PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) Teluk Bayur handled the loading of palm oil derivative products bound for Pakistan on Wednesday, reinforcing the port’s role as a key logistics gateway in West Sumatra.
The products were loaded onto the tanker MT Southern Anoa, which is scheduled to sail to Port Qasim, carrying a total of 18,000 tonnes of palm oil derivatives.
The 146-metre Liberian-flagged vessel, with a gross tonnage of 11,863, docked at the Gaung Special Bulk Terminal (DKC) 1 at Teluk Bayur Port.
The shipment consists of 4,300 tonnes of refined, bleached and deodorized palm oil (RBDPO), 5,000 tonnes of refined, bleached and deodorized olein (ROL), and 8,700 tonnes of refined, bleached and deodorized palm stearin (RBDPS).
The export activity highlights the port’s role in supporting shipments of key commodities from West Sumatra, including palm oil derivatives, to international markets.
PTP Nonpetikemas Teluk Bayur recorded cargo throughput of 5.79 million tonnes in 2025, despite flash floods in West Sumatra late last year that temporarily disrupted land logistics routes from the hinterland.
The terminal reported continued growth in early 2026. Cargo throughput reached 1.51 million tonnes in the first quarter, exceeding its target by 118.69%. The figure also marked an 11.03% increase from 1.36 million tonnes in the same period a year earlier.
Fauzi, branch manager of PTP Nonpetikemas Teluk Bayur, said the company remains focused on supporting the movement of goods for both exports and imports.
“PTP Nonpetikemas Teluk Bayur is committed to supporting logistics distribution to and from West Sumatra,” Fauzi said.
“We are currently optimizing operations at the Gaung DKC 2 terminal in response to higher production volumes following the operation of the second refinery owned by PT Padang Raya Cakrawala.”
The company said port services can now be accessed digitally through the Integrated Billing System (IBS), which is integrated with the Pelindo Terminal Operating System Multipurpose, allowing users to monitor service processes from submission to completion.
PTP Nonpetikemas Teluk Bayur has also introduced environmentally friendly operations by electrifying its main cargo-handling equipment, including three gantry jib cranes.
