A fish farmers’ group in Surabaya has taken part in a knowledge-sharing session aimed at strengthening sustainable soft-shell crab cultivation, with support from port operator PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL).
Members of the Kalitangi Asri Romokalisari Fish Farmers Group (Pokdakan) attended the session hosted by the Nambangan Perak Fishermen’s Group, focusing on technical improvements such as water filtration systems and solutions to operational challenges in soft-shell crab farming.
The programme followed a benchmarking visit in early December 2025, when the Nambangan Perak Fishermen’s Group studied cultivation practices implemented by Kalitangi Asri Romokalisari.
Amin, head of the Kalitangi Asri Romokalisari Pokdakan, said the exchange was designed to help optimise production and improve yields.
“We accepted and attended the invitation from the Nambangan Perak Fishermen’s Group with the aim of sharing how to optimise soft-shell crab cultivation to increase productivity and achieve maximum yields,” Amin said.
Sukron, head of the Soft-Shell Crab Cultivation Programme at the Bintang Laut Group under the Nambangan Perak Fishermen’s Group, said the session was part of a broader effort to strengthen technical capacity and encourage self-reliance among coastal farmers.
“This sharing session is a follow-up programme to reinforce knowledge transfer, improve farmers’ technical skills, and support the independence and sustainability of soft-shell crab cultivation businesses in Surabaya’s coastal areas,” he said.
The initiative is fully supported by PT Terminal Teluk Lamong as part of its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme. The company said it aims to promote collaboration among coastal communities to improve economic resilience.
“PT Terminal Teluk Lamong is committed to continuously assisting and facilitating coastal community empowerment programmes, including through knowledge-sharing activities like this,” said Dahlia Permata Sari, Corporate Communications Manager at TTL.
“We believe that synergy between fishermen and fish farmers will create a stronger, more competitive, and more sustainable business ecosystem,” she said.
The programme is expected to improve the quality of soft-shell crab production while strengthening cooperation between fishermen and fish farmers across Surabaya. TTL said the initiative also supports inclusive economic growth and environmental sustainability in coastal communities.
