State port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) / Pelindo has just issued a policy to eliminate the provision of fines on pilotage services. The policy effective since January 1, 2022, would run throughout Pelindo’s ports nationwide.
This is Pelindo’s effort to improve level of service and a part of real action in helping for a more efficient logistics cost in the country, a Pelindo top rank executive has said.
“This policy is done for a better ship service operating system. Hopefully, it will give positive impact on the monitoring of all services and to support the smooth and efficient operation,” said Pelindo Management Director Putut Sri Muljanto.
The fine elimination will be addressed to the service activities of: the time limit for submitting requests for pilotage services such as ship arrival, departure, separate movement, and cancellation or change as well as ship movement services. This policy is part of an effort to improve services to Pelindo service users after the merger.
“We also expect that this policy will encourage acceleration of post-integration transformation, thus being able to create hinterland connectivity, integrated shipping networks, and to improve the performance and efficiency of port services. We also expect for a standardization of service as this policy will be effective at any Pelindo’s ports nationwide,” said Putut.
The standardization of service is on top target of post-merger Pelindo. With this (standardization of service), users can more easily access services, including services for pilotage, stevedoring, loading/unloading until cargo delivery. This standardization is expected to have an impact on the gradual reduction of logistics costs.
