New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) has just got another new service as Maersk recently launched a new direct Transpacific (TP20) service, directly connecting Jakarta with US East Coast.
GSL TRIPOLI, which made her maiden call at NPCT1 on 25 March 2022, provides weekly and direct coverage from Jakarta to ports in China and the US East Coast (Jakarta – Yantian – Ningbo – Shanghai – Charleston (North) – Newark). The sizes of vessels deployed are expected to gradually increase from the current 5,400 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) to 6,500 TEUs.
This service is exclusively operated by Maersk and it shows Maersk’s commitment to continuously provide value for its customers, by improving vessel reliability amidst the global supply chain disruptions. NPCT1, as the strategic partner of Maersk in Indonesia, is part of this monumental achievement in supporting the growth of Maersk’s customers.

The launch of this new Transpacific service was celebrated with a presentation of plaques from NPCT1’s Management team to the Master of M.V GSL TRIPOLI and Maersk Indonesia’s Management team.
Commending this service, Takao Omori, President Director of NPCT1, “I am delighted to welcome the inaugural Transpacific direct service calling Jakarta, which is also the first Transpacific service to US East Coast in our Terminal since NPCT1 commenced operations in 2016. We are honored to continue our collaborative efforts with Maersk and to be entrusted with this new service, complementing their existing Intra-Asia services at our terminal.”
“The new service aims to improve the customers’ cargo flow through the reduction of logistics costs, as well as supporting the enhancement of Indonesia’s logistics and supply chain. NPCT1 will always strive to deliver best-in-class services to our customers and develop win-win relationships with its partners to overcome the challenges posed by the global supply chain disruptions,” Omori said further.

Erry Hardianto, Managing Director of Maersk Indonesia and the Philippines commented, “I’m very excited that Maersk has the first direct call from Jakarta to the US East Coast. It is also the only direct service in the market. We are all aware that reliability has been negatively impacted by the global supply chain disruption, and with this exciting service improvement, we will improve the vessel reliability and provide better ocean products and wider American market connection for our customers in Indonesia. Meanwhile, it’s more flexible and agile for customers to get Maersk’s end-to-end supply chain solutions.”
