To Support a Peaceful General Election, Truckers Urge Govt to Guarantee Subsidized Solar Distribution

Indonesia truckers urge the government to guarantee the availability of subsidized bio-solar fuel and keep fluent distribution, in a bid to create conducive situation approaching the general election day. Further, truckers encourage the state apparatus to maintain neutrality and conduciveness in the implementation of the 2024 elections.

“The election is only two days away and we have now entered the period of silence of the election stage. To realize a safe and conducive 2024 election, of course all parties must prioritize the interests of the nation,” said Chairman of Indonesia Trucking Companies’ Association Aptrindo Gemilang Tarigan.

“Therefore, even though there are differences in choices, we must all maintain national unity, thus no conflict in society is expected,” Gemilang said further.

Gemilang encourages the government to continue to maintain the availability and smooth distribution of subsidized diesel fuel. This will have an impact on improving the national economy and supporting a safe situation in the 2024 elections.

He does not expect the incident at the end of 2023 would happen again. At that time, almost all fuel and gas stations (SPBU) in Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan faced a shortage of bio solar fuel and there were restrictions on purchasing bio solar fuel per day, even though the quota regulated in the MyPertamina application had not exceeded the daily purchase limit.

Every year, lack of supply approaching the end of the year and not to mention the problems of the system (MyPertamina application), remained a usual problem for truckers to get subsidized fuel. Unless a serious step from regulator (BPH Migas) and supplier and distributor (State Owned Oil Company PT Pertamina) to overcome the issue, this problem will never find a solution.
