President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Dudy Purwagandhi, Commissioner of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero), as Minister of Transportation (Menhub) for the 2024-2029 period.
The appointment was announced by President Prabowo during a dinner with prospective ministers and deputy ministers at the State Palace in Jakarta on Sunday night (October 20, 2024).
“Dudy Purwagandhi SH, Minister of Transportation,” said Prabowo while reading the list of ministers in the Red and White Cabinet.
Born in Manado on September 23, 1970, Dudy succeeds Budi Karya Sumadi, who served as Minister of Transportation from 2016 to 2024 during President Joko Widodo’s administration.
Dudy earned his Bachelor of Law degree from Trisakti University in 1995 before embarking on a diverse career. Prior to his role on the PLN Board of Commissioners, he served as Director of Seacons Trading Limited, a company based in Singapore.
He has also held the position of Special Staff to the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (MenpanRB). In 2019, Dudy became involved in politics as the Deputy Treasurer of the National Campaign Team for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.
His extensive business experience includes roles as Commissioner of PT Satui Terminal Utama and Director at PT Dua Samudera Perkasa, a company focused on transportation and logistics. Dudy is also associated with the Jhonlin Group, including PT Jhonlin Marine Trans, which handles sea transportation for cargo such as iron ore and coal, and PT Jhonlin Air Transport, a regional airline in Indonesia.
Additionally, Dudy has served as an Internal Auditor at PT Dua Samudera Perkasa and as General Affairs Department Head at PT Tri Usaha Bhakti.
