Hesty Rosmawaty, President Director of PT Gateway Container Line, explained that Gateway focuses primarily on consolidation, while Moch Taufik, Operations Director at LOPI, outlined the company’s emphasis on handling project cargo.

LOPI: Beyond Logistics Service

Introducing his company, Taufik noted that LOPI initially specialized in logistics solutions for specific cargo, particularly heavy equipment. However, after rebranding as LOPI, the company significantly expanded its services and networks. Following its public listing on the IDX in 2023, LOPI began offering not only transportation services but also support for long-term customer success across various industries.

“Our core businesses include transportation services and customs brokerage (PPJK), particularly B2B services for specialized cargo such as heavy lifting, ODOL cargo, and supersensitive items, mostly catering to heavy industry,” Taufik explained. “We also provide supporting activities like IoT transportation solutions, specialized logistics software, and warehousing services, including property rental and management.”

LOPI manages large volumes of cargo using rail, land, sea, or air transportation, often employing multimodal combinations. The types of cargo handled include mining products (coal, sand, split stone, and nickel), raw materials, and crude oil, primarily transported domestically via dry bulk vessels, sea freight, and land transportation.

“Our major customers include GE Healthcare, PT Wijaya Karya Industri & Construction, PT Santos Jaya Abadi (the producer of Kapal Api coffee), PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, coal transportation companies (tug & barge), and a client in the Middle East,” Taufik shared.

Taufik acknowledged the intense competition among logistics players, emphasizing LOPI’s competitive advantages. “We are confident in our ability to lead in this competition. Our experience in the heavy lift industry—focusing on transportation for construction, power plants, railways, bridges, ports, airports, and metal plates—sets us apart,” he explained.

“Additionally, we benefit from an international network with USA Logistics Plus Inc., giving us access to expertise in managing complex projects. Our multimodal fleet is tailored to specific needs, allowing us to transport sensitive items, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment, which requires careful handling to prevent damage.”

Gateway: Collaboration for Sustainability

Gateway Container Line (GCL), a leading logistics company in Indonesia, particularly in consolidation services, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary and reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability in logistics and supply chain management. Alongside enhancing process efficiency and leveraging technology, building collaborative partnerships is a key component of GCL’s sustainability strategy.

“Gateway recognizes that one of the significant challenges we face moving forward is sustainability, particularly regarding environmental concerns and green logistics,” said Hesty Rosmawaty. “This issue affects all stakeholders, from those directly involved to those more distantly connected to our business operations.”

Sustainability in supply chain management can provide a competitive advantage for companies that adopt it proactively. Factors driving the demand for sustainable supply chains include consumer expectations, investor pressure, and global legislative initiatives.

“We appreciate LOPI’s partnership, and I would like to thank Pak Taufik for visiting our office. This aligns perfectly with our vision for sustainable business practices through collaboration. We hope to build on this initial meeting with concrete actions in the future,” Hesty added.
