PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), a multipurpose subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, has partnered with PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) and PT FKS Multi Agro Tbk to launch a community empowerment program near the Teluk Lamong Terminal. This initiative focuses on processing soybeans into tempeh and its derivative products, aiming to strengthen local economies and foster sustainable development.
The program began with a soybean processing training session conducted from December 17–20, 2024, at the Tambak Osowilangun Village Office in Benowo, Surabaya. The training attracted 60 participants from the villages of Tambakoso Wilangon, Romokalisari, Tambak Sarioso, and Karang Kiring.
Joni Ilyas, Vice President of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) at SPMT, emphasized that this program is a priority initiative under TJSL, targeting education, environmental sustainability, and MSME development.

“This training is designed to enhance the community’s skills and knowledge in producing high-quality tempeh,” Joni explained. “The expertise gained through this program can empower individuals to create job opportunities by establishing MSMEs. It aligns with our commitment to strengthening the regional economy and advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.”
Following the training, the program will support participants in forming MSMEs focused on tempeh production and its derivatives. TTL will oversee and further develop these MSMEs to ensure their sustainability.
“In line with FKS Group’s ESG commitment, which prioritizes community empowerment, this mentoring program seeks to promote regional economic growth by fostering community-driven MSMEs. We are confident that this strategic collaboration between FKS Group and Pelindo Group will yield positive ripple effects for the community,” said Beatrice, Vice President of ESG at FKS Group.
Farid Chairmawan, Vice President of Corporate Communications & Protocol at SPMT, highlighted that the program reflects the sustainable synergy between SPMT, TTL, and FKS Group. “This collaborative initiative not only benefits the community but also demonstrates our commitment to contributing to the development of the environment surrounding the port area,” Farid said.
