Strategic Steps of Container Depots to Navigate the Long Eid Holiday

The Indonesian Container Depot Association (ASDEKI) has outlined a series of strategic measures to effectively manage the extended Eid al-Fitr 1446 H / 2025 holiday, particularly in light of the 16-day truck operation ban.

The Central Executive Board (DPP) and Regional Executive Board (DPW) of ASDEKI convened an online plenary meeting, led by the Secretary General of DPP ASDEKI, Surya Dharma Syahputra. The meeting saw participation from DPP management and the Chairpersons of DPW ASDEKI.

The primary agenda of the session focused on preparing container depots for the challenges of the upcoming long Eid holiday, specifically in anticipation of freight transportation restrictions outlined in a Joint Decree (SKB) issued by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the National Police Traffic Corps, and the Ministry of Public Works.

Anticipatory Measures for the Extended Holiday

During the meeting, the DPP ASDEKI emphasized the importance of understanding the Joint Decree, which governs the freight transport restrictions. DPW ASDEKI is expected to align the operational schedules of container depots with these regulations while optimizing depot operations, particularly for the transfer of empty and full containers to and from the port.

Although most traffic between container depots and ports is not subject to the freight transport restrictions, depot operations are likely to face disruptions due to a limited number of available transport trucks. This limitation could affect the availability of empty containers once the long holiday concludes.

The DPP ASDEKI also underscored the need for effective collaboration between DPW ASDEKI and local stakeholders to streamline operational activities between ports and container depots, with attention to specific regional conditions.

Looking ahead, DPP ASDEKI hopes the government will bring together all stakeholders in the port sector to engage in discussions regarding operational restrictions during religious holidays. This collaborative approach is expected to foster better synergy and help address future challenges more effectively.

With these proactive measures, DPP ASDEKI aims to ensure that container depots and ports can maintain smooth operations during the long Eid holiday, despite the restrictions on freight transportation.

Appreciation for Discounted Stacking Fees

DPP ASDEKI’s General Chairperson, Mustofa Kamal Hamka, expressed appreciation for Pelindo’s initiative to offer a 50% discount on stacking fees at all ports under its management. He urged the DPW ASDEKI to submit requests to local port operators for similar discounts.
