Ocean Eye Technology Eyes Partnership with INSA Jaya to Power Indonesia’s Green Maritime

In a move that signals a transformative step toward digitalization and sustainability in Indonesia’s maritime industry, UK-based maritime technology company Ocean Eye Technology has initiated talks with the Indonesia National Shipowners’ Association (INSA JAYA), with the aim of forging a strategic partnership.

The visit, which took place at the INSA JAYA Office in Tanjung Priok, brought together top executives from both sides in a closed-door dialogue focused on innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.

Ocean Eye, a global leader in AI-powered solutions for shipping operations, was represented by Owen Barry and Mariana M. Suryasumirat, the latter serving as President Director of MAP Resources and Ocean Eye’s official representative in Indonesia.

They were received by the INSA JAYA Executive Boards, including Chairman Andi S. Patonangi, Secretary Mohamad Erwin Y. Zubir, Deputy Chairman Arwan Selmianto, and Treasurer Sunarno HS.

At the center of the discussions was Ocean Eye’s cutting-edge AI-Powered Fleet Support Center, a digital platform designed to reduce fuel consumption by 7% to 10% annually, lower maintenance costs, and anticipate engine failures before they occur—using predictive analytics powered by machine learning.

The technology also allows shipowners to monitor and manage their entire fleet in real time, through a single, mobile-accessible system.

“With an ambitious goal of reducing emissions by 30% by 2030, we aim to be a strategic partner for Indonesia’s maritime sector in building a greener, more efficient, and safer future,” said Barry.

Ocean Eye’s platform includes features such as real-time data analysis for agile decision-making, fleet-wide data integration and mobile oversight, AI-driven fuel optimization and engine failure prediction, and drone-based vessel inspections and sensor integration.

In addition, this technology has also been compliance with IMO and EU sustainability regulations.

INSA JAYA executive boards welcomed the opportunity to collaborate, emphasizing that digital transformation is no longer optional, it’s imperative.

“This partnership marks a significant step in advancing the digitalization of Indonesia’s maritime sector,” said Chairman Andi S. Patonangi. “Ocean Eye’s solutions align perfectly with our vision for cleaner, smarter ports and fleets. It supports both the national agenda and INSA JAYA’s long-term goals.”

Discussions between the two parties are expected to evolve into formal agreements, potentially paving the way for pilot programs involving INSA JAYA member companies. Deputy Chairman Arwan Selmianto expressed optimism about the next steps: “We hope that Ocean Eye Technology can soon begin operational trials with INSA JAYA member shipping companies.”

Adding momentum to the initiative, Treasurer Sunarno HS extended an invitation to Ocean Eye to participate in the Grand Indonesia Maritime Weeks, scheduled for May 26–28, 2025, a key industry gathering expected to attract regulators, operators, and leading shipping firms from across the archipelago.

For Secretary Mohamad Erwin Y. Zubir, the message was clear: the maritime industry is at a turning point.

“The future of shipping is no longer just about speed and capacity—it’s about how technology drives efficiency and sustainability,” he said.
