TPK Nilam, a container terminal operated PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL), reported a 10% increase in container throughput in the first half of 2025 (H12025), supported by stronger trade flows and increased ship calls.
Container volume rose to 224,402 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) from 204,667 TEUs in the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
The growth was driven in part by a rise in the movement of empty containers from regional ports including Samarinda, Banjarmasin, and Makassar, reflecting increasing outbound trade demand from Surabaya and East Java.
Trade links between East Java and other provinces have deepened since 2022, following a series of regional trade and investment missions led by the East Java provincial government.
These missions have boosted the exchange of key commodities such as palm oil, timber, edible bird’s nests, cement, rice, dairy, and agricultural goods.
The terminal also benefited from a higher frequency of ad hoc ship calls, with 29 additional ships operating under domestic carriers including Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL), Meratus Line, Caraka Tirta Perkasa (CTP) and Tanto Intim Lines.
“The addition of ad hoc vessels underscores stronger cooperation between the terminal and its service users,” TPK Nilam Terminal Head Retno Pujianto said.
The company has stepped up efforts to improve customer engagement, holding regular one-on-one meetings with service users to review performance metrics and gather feedback. These initiatives aim to enhance transparency and trust, Pujianto added.
“We are committed to delivering top-tier operational and commercial services,” Retno said. “The results we’ve achieved so far in 2025 reflect solid collaboration between the terminal, our customers, and other stakeholders in the port ecosystem.”
