Wan Hai’s TPI Service Makes Maiden Call at Terminal Teluk Lamong

The new service of Taiwan-based shipping giant Wan Hai Lines – TPI Service – made its inaugural port call at Indonesia’s Terminal Teluk Lamong this week, marking a new milestone in the terminal’s push to position itself as a strategic logistics hub in Southeast Asia.

The container vessel MV Wan Hai 369 berthed at the international pier of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) on Thursday evening, October 9, as part of Wan Hai’s TPI service, which connects Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shekou, and Nansha.

The 203.5-meter vessel, carrying 1,566 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), completed loading and unloading operations by Friday night before continuing its scheduled route across East Asia.

“This maiden call underscores growing trust in TTL’s efficient and sustainable port services,” said TTL President Director David Pandapotan Sirait, adding that the call reflects TTL’s ambition to become “a smart and green port.”

Captain Lee of the MV Wan Hai 369 praised the terminal’s operations as “fast, clean—everything is good,” citing smooth handling at the Surabaya-based facility.

TTL, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator Pelindo, has been steadily expanding its international network as part of a broader strategy to strengthen Indonesia’s role in global trade. Officials say the terminal’s modern infrastructure and eco-friendly initiatives are key to attracting top-tier global shipping lines.

Wan Hai’s decision to include Teluk Lamong in its weekly TPI route is expected to deepen economic ties between Indonesia and East Asian markets, while supporting the government’s efforts to enhance national logistics competitiveness.
