IPC TPK Teluk Bayur Adds Reach Stacker to Boost Container Handling Capacity

IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK) has added a reach stacker at its Teluk Bayur terminal in West Sumatra to improve container handling capacity and maintain service reliability, the company said on Tuesday.

The additional equipment is aimed at supporting container lifting and shifting operations, increasing operational flexibility and sustaining productivity at the terminal.

IPC TPK Corporate Secretary Pramestie Wulandary said the move followed routine evaluations of equipment readiness and operational requirements.

“We continue to adjust and strengthen our facilities according to operational needs in the field. The addition of this reach stacker is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure optimal loading and unloading services at Teluk Bayur and provide time certainty for customers,” she said.

Teluk Bayur terminal currently operates three gantry luffing cranes, three rubber-tyred gantry cranes and one reach stacker. In January 2026, container throughput at the terminal reached 8,877 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), the company said.

IPC TPK is also strengthening its preventive maintenance programme and optimizing equipment deployment patterns to improve reliability and minimize potential service disruptions.

The company, part of the national port ecosystem coordinated by Pelindo, said it continues to engage with logistics firms, shipping companies and industry associations to align services with customer needs.
