The latest addition came with the maiden call of the MV Cosco Haifa, operated by COSCO Shipping Lines on its North China–Southeast Asia Express Service, further strengthening trade connectivity between Indonesia and China.

The Hong Kong-flagged vessel berthed at Teluk Lamong’s international terminal on June 3. The ship, which has a carrying capacity of 4,250 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), handled 1,142 TEUs during its inaugural call, comprising 756 TEUs discharged and 386 TEUs loaded.

The service links major Chinese ports, including Xingang, Dalian, Qingdao, Ningbo and Nansha, with Jakarta and Surabaya, expanding direct access between Indonesia and one of its largest trading partners.

David Pandapotan Sirait, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, said the arrival of COSCO’s service reflected increasing confidence among international shipping companies in the terminal’s operational performance and service quality.

“The arrival of COSCO services is an important milestone for Terminal Teluk Lamong,” David said. “In addition to strengthening trade connectivity between Indonesia and China, it reflects growing confidence among global shipping lines in our operational reliability, productivity and service quality.”

David said the more than 90% increase in international container volume underscored the terminal’s expanding role as a gateway for international trade in eastern Indonesia.

“This growth is the result of continuous improvements in service quality, operational optimization and strong collaboration with customers and global shipping lines,” he said.

Yan Richard Ruiqiang, Owner Representative of COSCO Shipping Lines Surabaya, said the company had been encouraged by the terminal’s operational and commercial development.

“Service reliability, cargo-handling productivity, infrastructure availability and the responsiveness of the management team are important factors that support our decision to continue developing cooperation with Terminal Teluk Lamong,” Yan said.

He added that the terminal’s volume growth reflected increasing market confidence and its ability to meet the requirements of international shipping companies seeking operational efficiency and reliable logistics connectivity.

The vessel’s master, Yan Junming, also praised the terminal’s performance during the ship’s first visit.

“We received excellent service from arrival through cargo operations,” he said. “Professional operational support, adequate facilities and effective coordination contributed to a very positive experience.”
