ALFI Institute (the training institution of Indonesia Logistics and Forwarders’ Association ALFI/ILFA) is expanding its program coverage by doing in-house training to campus. Recently (February 10-13) together with ALFI Central Java, ALFI Institute did in-house training for lecturers of Faculty of Economy, University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) Solo.
This collaboration is meant to improve quality of human resources in logistics and freight forwarding.
The training was officially opened by Dean of UNS Faculty of Economy Prof. Djoko Suhardjanto.
On his remark speech Djoko said his appreciation and expressed support to this program. He appreciated the program of ALFI Institute and ALFI Central Java on taking this program, saying how importance of knowledge on logistics and forwarding for the university. He noted that the competence of lecturers should follow the international standard of FIATA and UNSCAP, thus they can educate students optimally.
“This is so important to create output that links and matches with the requirements of both national and global logistics industry,” he said.
Djoko noted the high potencies of this industry to absorb employment. As the only one university that has special program in logistics subject, the graduates are expected to have additional certificate from this program, thus giving them added value in getting jobs.
“They (graduates) are more prepared to work, especially when they will work for the industry of logistics and supply change management (SCM),” he said.
Chairman of DPW ALFI Jawa Tengah (Central Java Chapter) Ari Wibowo appreciates this program and expects for a sustainable program.
He said that this program is useful in preparing human resources to encourage the Indonesia logistics industry to be more competitive in ASEAN and global market.
