PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) will deploy as many as 282 tankers to secure stock of both fuel (BBM) and LPG during the Eid al-Fitr season, the company has said as some media have quoted.
PIS Acting Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun said PIS is committed to maintaining the security of fuel supply with sustainable operations. “PIS also ensures that the security and safety of the officers doing tasks on these tankers,” Roberth said in an official statement, Wednesday (20/4).
A total of 282 PIS tankers will be deployed to ensure the smooth distribution of domestic energy. Of this total, as many as 199 tankers will be used to distribute aviation and fuel. Meanwhile, 83 others are used for distribution of LPG, crude oil, black oil, FSO crude, asphalt, and others.
PIS also ensures to monitor the distribution of BBM and LPG on a regular basis, starting from monitoring all depots in terms of stock conditions, DOT, coverage days and ship positions and conditions, and coordinating with all related parties to mitigate and anticipate if there is a spike in demand at a terminal.
To make sure the tankers are ready, PIS will do digital monitoring with applications and technology that PIS has to detect the development of the situation, anticipate emergency conditions and other risks, namely Enhance Daily Tanker Position (EDTP).
As an anticipatory measure, PIS has also prepared additional vessels in anticipation of an increase in the need for stock security during the task force period if necessary.
Coordination also continues to be carried out centrally at the Pertamina Task Force Command Post and independently with relevant government agencies ranging from port officers, customs and other permits so that ship operations remain smooth.
