“The facilities confirmed to be ready include passenger waiting rooms, toilets, lactation rooms, health rooms, prayer rooms, autogates, information centers, check-in counters, CCTV-equipped operational offices, and docking areas for passenger ships, all designed to ensure comfort and safety for passengers,” said Ardhy Wahyu Basuki, Group Head of the Corporate Secretariat.

Pelindo is also collaborating with port stakeholders for the 2024/2025 Nataru Transportation Post. Together with the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), Port Health Office (KKP), Port Security Implementation Unit (KPPP), and other government agencies, Pelindo will monitor and manage the flow of passengers. This includes verifying travel requirements and providing passenger information services.

To improve service, Pelindo has carried out both major and minor renovations at several key passenger terminals, including those in Makassar, Selat Panjang, Gunung Sitoli, Sei Kolak Kijang-Tg Pinang, Biak, Bitung, Bima, Samarinda, and Waingapu. These renovations enhance the facilities, ensuring better service for passengers.

Iwan Sjarifuddin, General Manager of Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar, highlighted the improvements at the Makassar Passenger Terminal, including a new 180.71 m² waiting room on the 1st floor of Terminal 1, renovated toilets and prayer rooms, and a new 385 m² Temporary Waiting Room (RTS) on the 1st floor of Terminal 2 to accommodate transit passengers whose ships are not connected to connecting ships.

In line with the Ministry of SOEs’ directive to ensure passengers remain comfortable, safe, and well-served during the 2024/2025 Nataru period, Pelindo is also preparing for potential spikes in passenger numbers. Additional facilities, such as tents, chairs for extra waiting areas, portable toilets, additional check-in counters, increased luggage inspections, and more security officers, will be available as needed.
