Terminal Teluk Lamong Continues Improving HR to Optimize Modern and High-Tech Facilities Productivity

Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) will continue to improve human resources capability in supporting the optimum performance of its modern and high-tech facilities. In addition, it commits to keep harmonized industrial relationship that currently has been running well, Terminal Teluk Lamong President Director David P. Sirait said in responding expectations of Manpower Vice Minister Afriansyah Noor during his visit to the terminal.

Indonesia Manpower Vice Minister Afriansyah Noor visited Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) on Wednesday, January 10, 2023, to discuss the issue of industrial relationship between management and employees (dockers) at this Indonesia’s most modern, smart, and eco-port terminal.

On his remark speech, Afriansyah Noor reminded the key role of logistics sector in economic development as always called by President Joko Widodo.  He also stated that the main goal of national development relating employment is to create industrial relations that are harmonious, dynamic and fair.

Currently, Terminal Teluk Lamong remained one of the terminals in Indonesia that has applied advanced technology systems. Activities of receiving and delivery in the stacking yard area use an automated system, while loading and unloading equipment uses modern and environmentally friendly technology. This is in line with TTL’s vision to become the best green and smart-port that Indonesia has.

The use of sophisticated technology, of course, must be balanced with an increase in qualified and competent human resources in the port sector and an understanding of HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) regulations. “I am proud to know that TTL as a port that has high risks but can guarantee health, security, safety for all its employees and for environment protection,” said Afriansyah.

Present to welcome this visit were Regional Head 3 PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Ardhy Wahyu Basuki, HR Director PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Sub-holding (SPTP) Ady Sutrisno, Termina Teluk Lamong Board of Directors, and Workers Union.

Harmonized Industrial Relationship

David explained that industrial relations at the terminal had been running harmoniously with the agreement of the Collective Labor Agreement (CLA/PKB). He said the CLA at Terminal Teluk Lamong has been satisfying both, the company and workers. “Our performance achievements that exceeds the target proves it,” he said.

David explained that union has provided high contribution to such achievement. “This is because we have well-built and implemented a harmonized industrial relationship. Apart from keeping production moving forward and growing for the company’s survival, the union also struggle for the welfare of all members,” he said.

David also expressed his pride in the harmonization that exists with the union. The management is also open for dialogue with employees on a regular basis.

“The success of industrial relations at TTL is proof that management is very open. Employee aspirations can be accommodated well. Employees also have a high awareness of working together to advance the company, because a growing company will have an impact on improving the welfare of its employees,” explained David.

Industrial relations can be harmonious if they can accommodate the interests of the company, the interests of workers and the interests of the government, one of which is through the instruments of Company Regulations (PP) or Collective Labor Agreements (PKB).

Closing the visit, Afriansyah advised TTL management to maintain company conduciveness by continuing to pay attention to the trade union and all its workers so that their lives are prosperous.

“We appreciate the industrial relations between employees and the company which have been running in harmony, thus making TTL stronger and more solid,” he concluded.
