The event was attended by representatives from the Harbor Master and Port Authority (KSOP) Tanjung Perak as well as the Board of Directors and Management of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong. Also present were representatives from the Navy Cooperative (Puskopal) Koarmada II Surabaya, the provider of lasher and TBCK labor services.

In his opening remarks, Muhamad Syukur, Director of Operations and Engineering at PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, emphasized the importance of identifying workplace hazards and implementing mitigation measures. He explained that such knowledge is critical for all workers, especially those in direct operational roles, such as lashers and TBCK workers, who work in the terminal’s restricted areas.

“Workplace safety is a fundamental factor in the smooth operation of a terminal. Unsafe conditions and actions can lead to incidents that disrupt operations and cause financial losses. Therefore, cultivating safety awareness is essential to minimize risks and prevent accidents,” said M. Syukur.

The safety awareness session provided participants with valuable insights into their roles and responsibilities in adhering to safety protocols. Topics covered included the risks of working at the port, the leading causes of workplace accidents, and real-life case studies of safety incidents at the terminal, serving as lessons for all.

David Pandapotan Sirait, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, also underscored the broader importance of safety. “Work safety is not only crucial for the workers themselves, but also for their coworkers and families,” said David.

“Safety First is not just a slogan—it is a directive that must be followed by every worker. A safe working environment ensures that operations run smoothly and that every worker can return home safely,” David said further.
