The Indonesian Container Depot Association (ASDEKI) is advancing the transformation of the country’s container depot industry through digitalization, enhanced governance, and risk-based business licensing. The initiatives were announced on Thursday during ASDEKI Day 2025, an event marking the association’s 18th anniversary in Harapan Indah, West Java.
Central to the event was the launch of Portify, a digital platform developed in collaboration with PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT). The system is designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in depot operations, and forms a key part of ASDEKI’s broader modernization agenda.
The unveiling of Portify coincided with the association’s 2025 National Working Meeting (Rakernas II) and the official inauguration of ASDEKI’s Jakarta Regional Leadership Council (DPW), as part of its regional institutional expansion.
Strengthening Licensing and Governance
Mustafa Kamal Hamka, Chairman of ASDEKI’s Central Executive Board (DPP), underscored the urgent need for licensing reform to ensure sustainable industry growth. ASDEKI is calling for the structured implementation of a risk-based licensing system, as mandated by Government Regulation No. 28 of 2025.

One of the key recommendations from Rakernas II was the proposal for a moratorium on the establishment of new depots in oversaturated areas, citing concerns over excess capacity and service quality degradation.
“Any future depot license application should include recommendations from both the DPP and the relevant DPW, to prevent overlapping developments and underutilization,” said ASDEKI Secretary General Surya Dharma.
To improve local coordination and policy effectiveness, ASDEKI also plans to establish new Regional Executive Boards in strategic provinces, including South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, and West Kalimantan.
Portify: A Leap Toward Digital Standardization
The Portify platform represents a significant step in the digital transformation of Indonesia’s depot industry. It aims to streamline services, accelerate transactions, and enable real-time data access for stakeholders across the supply chain.

“Portify is our gateway to modernizing depot operations nationwide. It will be instrumental in achieving standardization and operational efficiency,” Kamal said, adding that the platform also supports the implementation of minimum service standards (SPM) and builds trust among cargo owners and logistics providers.
JICT Deputy President Director Budi Cahyono welcomed the initiative, highlighting JICT’s longstanding experience with digital systems such as the Terminal Operating System (TOS), online payments, and the Terminal Booking System (TBS).
“Digital systems enable greater transparency and real-time monitoring while minimizing errors. We fully support ASDEKI’s digital push with Portify,” Cahyono said.
The move toward digitalization comes at a time when Indonesia’s logistics sector is grappling with global uncertainty, said Hari Sutanto, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI).

“Geopolitical tensions, rising freight costs, and unpredictable supply chains due to trade wars are exerting enormous pressure on national logistics players,” Sutanto said. “Digitalization, like that offered by Portify, is no longer optional—it’s an urgent necessity.”
He also noted ongoing domestic challenges, such as low depot utilization rates, infrastructure disparities, and policy inconsistencies. Addressing these issues, he said, requires stronger coordination between the government, industry associations, and business stakeholders.
Recognizing Industry Leaders
As part of the celebrations, ASDEKI presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to individuals recognized for their contributions to the development of the depot and logistics industry. Recipients included Sungkono Ali, Trismawan Sanjaya, Muslan, Suhermanto, and Isa Sufianto.
Special recognition was also given to Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono, represented by David P. Sirait, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, for the company’s partnership with ASDEKI.
Other prominent attendees included Aptrindo Chairman Gemilang Tarigan, ISAA Chairman Aris Hartoyo, ALI Chairman Mahendra, and Supply Chain Indonesia (SCI) Chairman Setijadi.
New Jakarta Leadership Inaugurated
The event also marked the formal inauguration of ASDEKI’s Jakarta Regional Board, strengthening the association’s presence in the capital. The new leadership team comprises:
Closing the ceremony, Kamal expressed gratitude to ASDEKI’s founders and stakeholders for their commitment over nearly two decades.

“This year’s four key milestones—the anniversary, the inauguration of the Jakarta board, the national working meeting, and the launch of Portify—reflect our firm resolve to lead the depot industry toward a more integrated, modern, and adaptive future,” he said.
