Indonesia’s state-owned port operator Pelindo and its partner Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) have opened the first dock at Bali Gapura Marina, marking the start of partial operations at what is set to become the country’s first full-service marina built to international standards.
The launch of Dock B at Benoa Port’s Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) signals a key step in the multi-year development of the flagship marina. The dock is one of five planned for the initial phase. Construction began in July 2025 and includes 11 pontoon modules spanning 163 metres, built to support loads of about 550 kg per square metre.
Pelindo Technical Director Muhammad Suriawan Wakan said the opening underscored Indonesia’s ambition to strengthen its position in the global maritime tourism market.

“Bali Gapura Marina is not just an infrastructure project. It reflects our shared commitment to open new opportunities and raise the standards of premium maritime tourism services in Indonesia,” he said. “Its presence is expected to spur the development of other premium marinas and position Indonesia as a leading destination.”
Bali Governor I Wayan Koster voiced his support, saying the island — one of the world’s top tourism draws — has long needed facilities that can cater to international yachts.
To meet those expectations, the operators say the marina’s technology and systems are being developed to comply with international dock standards. Pelindo’s logistics subholding, Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), which manages the BMTH Development Area I, is overseeing integration of the marina into the wider tourism hub.
SPSL Commercial and Technical Director Ruri I. Rachmaputri said the project is part of a broader push to build a sustainable, technologically advanced maritime tourism ecosystem.
“We are integrating comfort, premium services and modern infrastructure to support Indonesia’s position in the global maritime tourism industry,” she said.

MDI, the marina’s developer and operator, said the Dock B launch sets the pace for upcoming construction. President Director Ulf Backlund said docks C and D are targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2026, with full operations planned for 2028.
With the opening of its first dock, Bali Gapura Marina can now receive dozens of yachts and provide clean water, electricity and other core services. The facility is designed to help Indonesia attract a larger share of the premium yachting market, which has grown rapidly across Asia-Pacific.
Future phases will add a yacht club, service station and support facilities, along with a premium retail and entertainment precinct within BMTH’s Development Area I.
