Amid the ban of trucking operation that has been effective on March 24, 2025, at 00:00 West Indonesia Time (WIB), the operational of Indonesia’s biggest port was running smoothly. There was no significant disruption yet. All container terminals at the port are operating on schedule and in compliance with the relevant regulations.
“All terminals are still running well so far with no disruption, no congestion at all,” Adi Sugiri, the Executive General Manager of PT Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok said in a press statement this afternoon, Monday, March 24, 2025.
Adi Sugiri explained that the Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok had built close coordination with related stakeholders in anticipating probable effect of the ban and to support the smooth operation of this Indonesia’s export import main gateway.
“Since the beginning of the ban announcement until today we have tied up collaboration with related parties, including with KSOP (port authority), customs, police and relevant agencies,” Adi Sugiri said.
He further clarified that the stacking yard capacity at Tanjung Priok Port is still sufficient to support ongoing ship and cargo operations, including container services.
On March 24, 2025, the Average Yard Occupancy Ratio (YoR) at the container terminals was within acceptable levels: 70% for domestic containers and 60% for international containers.
Pelindo is also preparing for the anticipated increase in cargo flow during the 2025 Eid period. The company is actively monitoring the stacking yard capacity across all terminals and on Line II of the port. Pelindo has assured that loading and unloading services, goods stacking, and other port operations will continue 24/7 throughout this period.
To support businesses affected by the truck restriction policy during the 2025 Eid homecoming, Pelindo is offering incentives to export-import operators. These include a 50% discount on stacking fees for unloading and importing goods and filled containers from March 24, 2025, to April 8, 2025, during the transportation restrictions.
Even, from D-2 to D+2 of Eid 2025, Pelindo is providing an additional 60% discount on stacking charges.
As reported earlier, in a move that further complicates the logistics industry’s operations, the government has issued a Joint Decree from the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, the Director General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, the Head of Traffic Corps, and the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works.
The decree addresses road traffic regulations and crossings during the homecoming and return flow of Eid 2025/1446 H.
The decree introduces restrictions on the operation of goods transportation, which will take effect from Monday, March 24, 2025, to Tuesday, April 8, 2025. These restrictions apply to both toll roads and non-toll roads, further limiting trucking companies’ ability to operate during this critical period.
