Non-container terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) has set an ambitious throughput target of 53.5 million tons/m³ for 2025. The company is confident in reaching this goal, but how will it achieve such a significant milestone?
In a recent announcement, Indra Hidayat Sani, President Director of PTP Nonpetikemas, outlined the strategies driving his confidence and shared key initiatives aimed at optimizing operations to meet the 2025 target.
With an emphasis on integrated services and cutting-edge technology, PTP Nonpetikemas aims to boost throughput and strengthen its market position. Additionally, the company is focusing on building strategic partnerships and expanding its business to help achieve its objectives for 2025.
To meet its 2025 target, PTP Nonpetikemas is implementing several key initiatives, including terminal modernization, forging strategic partnerships with cargo owners and logistics companies, providing comprehensive Port Management Services, and utilizing the integrated Planning & Control features of the Pelindo Terminal Operating System Multipurpose (PTOS-M).
Furthermore, the company is prioritizing HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) to ensure operational excellence.
“Our 2025 target reflects our commitment to growth and excellence,” said Indra.
“We are confident that, with ongoing terminal modernization, business expansion, and strengthened partnerships with stevedoring entrepreneurs (PBM) and other key stakeholders, we will reach this milestone,” he said further.
SRTATEGIC INITIATIVES
Several initiatives are already underway to support the company’s growth, including the Port Terminalization Program, which covers operations at key locations such as Palembang, Banten, Cirebon, Kijing, Jambi, and Pangkalbalam.
The company is also enhancing its liquid bulk services at the Kijing Terminal in Pontianak by upgrading loading and unloading equipment and optimizing piperack arrangements at the liquid bulk pier.
Additionally, PTP Nonpetikemas is extending cooperation for the operation of the Tersus/TUKS (special terminals and terminals for owned interest) and managing LNG, condensate, and fuel terminals at strategic locations, including Muara Sabak-Jambi Port and Sungai Lais Port in Palembang.
Active marketing efforts are also underway to strengthen collaborations with cargo owners, shipping lines, and logistics companies.
In Tanjung Priok Region 2, the company is focused on improving liquid bulk services through cooperation on loading and unloading, as well as Ship-to-Ship and Shorebase projects to enhance shipping and logistics efficiency.
During the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) at the 2025 PTP Non-container Management Forum, maritime logistics expert and academician Raja Oloan Saut Gurning, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., CMarTech, from ITS (Surabaya Institute of Technology), discussed his research on non-container port connectivity in Indonesia.
He highlighted that improving connectivity can enhance trade quality and deliver significant economic and business benefits. He recommended implementing a service and tariff bundling strategy to reduce logistics costs and increase distribution flexibility. Multimodal transportation is also crucial for efficient goods distribution to and from ports. For PTP Nonpetikemas to solidify its position as a leading non-container terminal operator in Indonesia, embracing these strategies and offering integrated, competitive services is essential.
“Through the FGD with Prof. Saut, we recognized the importance of broadening our customer base. The market potential for PTP Nonpetikemas is vast, and by expanding our reach, we aim to capture a larger market share,” added Indra.
PTP Nonpetikemas has already standardized, systematized, and integrated its operations across 11 strategic locations in Indonesia, including Tanjung Priok, Banten, Panjang-Lampung, Bengkulu, Jambi, Teluk Bayur (West Sumatra), Palembang (South Sumatra), Cirebon, Pangkal Balam (Bangka Belitung), Pontianak, and Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung). The implementation of PTOS-M has proven effective, reducing port stay times by up to 33%.
With a clear and robust strategy for 2025, PTP Nonpetikemas is well-positioned to optimize its potential and achieve its goals. These efforts not only strengthen its competitive position but also reinforce its role as a leading non-container terminal operator in Indonesia.
