Port equipment provider – PT Jasa Peralatan Pelabuhan Indonesia (JPPI), a subsidiary of Pelindo Jasa Maritim Subholding (SPJM), is taking active steps towards sustainability by greening its operational spaces in a bid to reduce carbon emissions.
As part of this initiative, the company has planted various ornamental plants in the Jakarta shipyard area in Ancol and at the JPPI office space in the Tanjung Priok Branch Building.
The planting activity, carried out by JPPI’s Board of Directors and employees, aims to combat air pollution, improve air quality, and support the company’s sustainability goals. A variety of plants were chosen, including bougainvillea, red shoots, snake plants, palms, and pilea. These plants serve multiple purposes as they help absorb harmful air pollutants, neutralize unpleasant odors, produce oxygen, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of both indoor and outdoor spaces.
A COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
JPPI, as part of the Pelindo Group, is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions within the port environment.
“We are committed to reducing carbon emissions in our operational areas. This greening initiative in our shipyard and office spaces is one of the first steps we are taking,” said Nurhadi, JPPI Director of Operations and Commercial.

“In the future, we will continue with additional efforts such as minimizing plastic waste, reducing electricity consumption, and ensuring more effective plant maintenance,” he said further.
These actions align with the company’s long-term goal of creating a healthier and more comfortable working environment, not only for JPPI employees but also for the surrounding community.
By introducing greenery, JPPI hopes to contribute to the overall improvement of air quality and create a more sustainable environment for all.
SUPPORTING NATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES
This initiative is in line with the Indonesian Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) directives, which have emphasized the importance of energy transformation and carbon emission reduction. The Ministry’s Circular No. SE-6/MBU/12/2022 calls on all SOEs to implement decarbonization programs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to support national climate goals. JPPI’s actions are part of a broader effort to contribute to the country’s sustainability targets.
Through these efforts, JPPI is not only improving the quality of its operations but is also setting an example for other state-owned enterprises to prioritize environmental responsibility. The company’s focus on sustainability highlights its commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, contributing to both the well-being of the environment and the community at large.
By greening the port and expanding its environmental initiatives, JPPI is playing an active role in the global movement towards a greener, more sustainable future.
