As of March 2025, MTI Pontianak handled stacking activities totaling 142,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) at Line 2 of Dwikora Pontianak Port—exceeding its quarterly target by 4%.

“MTI’s presence in Pontianak supports Line 2 operations as a buffer for the container terminal,” Wahyu explained. “We currently operate two reach stacker units to support stacking activities in that area.”

Wahyu emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its market reach in order to further improve logistics performance in the region. According to the 2025 Corporate Work Plan and Budget (RKAP), MTI Pontianak is targeting total container handling of 597,000 TEUs—an increase over the 586,052 TEUs recorded in 2024.

“We are confident in meeting this year’s target, especially with rising container throughput at the Pontianak Container Terminal,” Wahyu added.

MTI Pontianak manages the container stacking yard in the Lane 2 area of the port. As container activity at the terminal increases, operations at MTI are expected to scale accordingly. The company currently supports land-side operations with a fleet of 30 trucks.

Logistics Sector Projected to Grow 4–5% in West Kalimantan

The logistics industry in Pontianak and across West Kalimantan is projected to grow by 4% to 5% in 2025, driven by increasing freight movement at both Dwikora and Kijing Ports.

Dharmayadi, Chairperson of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) Pontianak, stated that the growth trend is already evident from logistics flow data in Q1.

“The logistics potential in West Kalimantan is rising, and we are optimistic this momentum will continue,” said Dharmayadi . “We fully support Pelindo’s efforts to develop logistics infrastructure.”

While port operations have generally run smoothly, Dharmayadi noted that recent procedural changes by the Quarantine Agency have introduced some delays. “The new system requires longer processing times, which has created minor obstacles,” he said.
